The Downside of Being Irish

It's not really a complicated story. On Memorial Day I went over to my cousin's girlfriend's grandparents' house. Ok, so maybe that part was a little complicated, but the rest is not. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day. Mark, Jess, and I arrived at Jess's grandparents' house to have a BBQ with her family. Mark and I swam in the pool off and on for essentially the whole afternoon. Well, being completely stupid, I forgot everything I had ever learned about being white and being out in the sun. I came to find out at the end of the day that I had a tremendously disgusting sunburn (see pictures below). The wonderful life lesson learned from this nasty experience? Reapply sunscreen (SPF 2000) every 2 minutes when outside for prolonged periods of time. Overall, besides the sunburn of course, I enjoyed the day. We ate good food, swam in a cool pool, and had lots of great conversation and laughter.

I understand this completely! Once I had a huge burn right across my back and was in a wedding were I had to wear a tube-top. My best friend is an artist and she got self tanner and makeup and painted in the white lines to match the rest of my back...what an adventure!
